At IPSA, Gregory Mann will deliver a conference entitled “Space / Power: How Geopolitics Drives Human Exploration in Space,” offering students a unique opportunity to explore how geopolitical dynamics, international cooperation and strategic interests shape the future of human space exploration. Drawing on his experience at NASA, he will shed light on the interplay between space policy, diplomacy and global ambitions beyond Earth.
🎙️ "My intention is to outline a number of examples beginning with the launch of Sputnik, leading through the space race with the Soviet Union, and then moving into the Apollo – Soyuz Test project, the political origins of the international space station cooperation with Russia, and closing with the current state of geopolitics in space in the new race back to the moon with China."

Speaker introduction – Gregory Mann NASA’s Europe Representative, based at the U.S. Embassy in Paris
Greg Mann is NASA’s Europe Representative, based in Paris, where he oversees the implementation of NASA’s policies and programs in collaboration with European governments, industry and academia. As the lead U.S. Government authority on space-related matters, he advises American diplomatic officials and government representatives on space cooperation and international affairs. Previously, he held several positions within NASA’s Office of International and Interagency Relations, focusing on human space exploration, space communications and navigation, and international partnerships across Asia. He holds a Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs from the University of Georgia and a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities from New College of Florida. He is also a recipient of the NASA Exceptional Service Medal.
